At Solidara.net, we are developing a new cooperative model for living and working that lowers costs, creates freedom, and strengthens community. Instead of rigid rental apartments, our investor community builds modular housing units on jointly financed land, which can be individually combined.
Each member of our cooperative can flexibly assemble their own living and working space – e.g., from a one-room apartment (bedroom and bathroom) as a tiny terraced unit and private retreat to a temporarily bookable furnished living room with fitted kitchen, up to shared workspaces or playrooms for children. Housing thus becomes more affordable, versatile, easily downsizable in old age, easier to exchange within a generational village, and more sustainable.
The cooperative is inspired by proven concepts such as the Gartenring in Germany, the Rundling villages in Wendland, the Moshav in Israel, and the Brøndby Garden City in Denmark.

These ideas were collected and developed over the past eight years by Werner Noske as the initiator of Solidara.net to enable affordable living and solidarity-based work in regional and transregional business networks as well as private living and working communities across Europe.
With a growing number of supporters, we are collectively building a worldwide network within Solidara.net and contributing more good ideas. This makes the cooperative attractive both to investors inside and outside the EU and to people seeking an alternative lifestyle.
Carsharing, a communal Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), a food cooperative, or in-house services – from cleaning to care – can, for example, be provided by individual members and serve as sources of income.
Solidarity economy expands the possibilities to reduce costs:
Appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, or garden tools can be purchased and used collectively while being centrally maintained and kept in good condition.
All services can be organized so that a fair balance emerges: users pay affordable contributions while service providers receive appropriate compensation.
Even things usually considered luxuries become affordable through the community: a garden swimming pool or a quincho – a covered terrace with a grill kitchen popular in South America for shared asado – are available to the community. This is made possible through collective investments that benefit everyone.
Thus, the Solidara Housing Cooperative optionally combines affordable housing with a solidarity-based living and working model that creates freedom, security, and quality of life for all.
